Bandje

Privacy

Last updated: 5 November 2026

In short: your recordings, transcripts and summaries stay on your Mac. We never receive them. Bandje has no account, no analytics and no crash reporting.

Who we are

Bandje is made by Neurendal B.V. in the Netherlands. Questions about privacy: bandje@neurendal.com.

What stays on your Mac

The one thing that leaves your Mac: a licence check

The speech models come from Desert Ant Labs B.V. (Netherlands). Their licence requires a licence check: at most once a month for each of the two models. It sends a random installation ID, the model and its version, the SDK version, the platform and Bandje's app ID. Never audio, never text, never your name or account. Desert Ant Labs uses this only to count active devices, and is the independent controller of that data. Their server sees your IP address, as every server does. More: desertant.com.

Buying through the App Store

Apple handles the purchase and payment; Apple's privacy policy applies to that. We only see the statistics Apple gives every developer. If you've chosen in macOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may also send us anonymous crash reports.

Recording other people

Bandje is a tool: you decide what you record. Laws on recording calls and meetings differ per country. In some places the consent of one participant is enough; in others, such as Germany and several US states, everyone must agree beforehand. When you record for work, privacy law (in the EU the GDPR) usually requires you to inform the other people. You alone are responsible for recording lawfully, including informing participants or asking their consent where the law requires it. Bandje doesn't notify other participants. Neurendal B.V. accepts no liability for unlawful use of Bandje.

If you email us

We use your email address and message only to answer you, and delete them when they're no longer needed.

Your rights

You can ask us what we know about you (almost certainly nothing), and ask us to correct or delete it. Questions about the licence check go to Desert Ant Labs. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
