Summaries

Bandje can summarize a conversation in a form you choose, with Apple Intelligence on your Mac.

Summaries need macOS 26 or later with Apple Intelligence turned on. Without it, the Summarize menu doesn't appear and Bandje works as usual.

  1. Choose Summarize in the menu.
  2. Under Pick a Template, choose one. Bandje summarizes the current recording. To summarize another one, first pick it under Choose Recording.
  3. While Bandje works, purple sparkles show in the menu bar. Point at them to see the progress.
  4. When it's done, a small green check mark appears on the cassette and the Bandje window opens on the summary.

You can also start in the Bandje window: choose Summarize next to the tabs and pick a template.

The summary is saved next to the transcript as <name> summary <template>.md. A summary takes from a few seconds to about a minute. Long conversations are summarized in parts.

The summary is written in the language of the conversation. Apple Intelligence summarizes in English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and a few other languages, but not yet in Polish, Russian or Ukrainian.

The model on your Mac is small. It sticks to what was said, but it can miss details. Check important facts in the transcript.

Bandje comes with three templates: a meeting, a job interview and a customer interview. To make your own, see Making a template.
